Wether Report Today is January 24th, and you must have seen that the torrential rain that occurred yesterday, January 23rd, in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and northern Rajasthan, as well as some parts of Uttar Pradesh, was the heaviest rainfall of this season.
And for the first time this season, there was such heavy snowfall in the mountains that all the hill stations, including Ladakh, were completely covered in snow, and a blanket of snow spread across the entire area. It was the best snowfall so far, and the tourists who went there enjoyed it thoroughly. Now, let’s look at the situation that developed. As you can see on this map, a well-marked low-pressure area had formed near Pakistan.
The Western Disturbance was over the mountains, meaning a low-pressure area and a well-marked low-pressure area had formed in place of the induced cyclonic circulation. The winds from the sea were continuously reaching here, and winds were also coming from the Bay of Bengal. This situation led to a rapid influx of moisture into all these areas. You can see this map on our Skymet website. Now, if we look further, the situation, as I will explain with the map, was such that a well-marked low-pressure area had formed here, and there was a Western Disturbance here. There was an anti-cyclone here. Due to the anti-cyclone, the wind was coming from this direction, and due to the Western Disturbance, the wind was coming from here. So, winds from both seas were reaching here.
Along with the mountains, we saw rainfall in many districts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, although it was light in some areas, and hailstorms also occurred in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and northern Rajasthan. So, this was the weather situation. Now, if we look at the changes that have occurred, there have been some changes. Now, if we talk about today, the 24th, the weather is clearing up in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The Western Disturbance has moved further north. However, rain will continue today in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, and there might be snowfall in the higher mountains.
If we extend and enlarge this map, you can see that the winds are coming from this direction, from here, and they are circulating here. These are dry winds. So, there is no significant weather activity expected here. And the winds coming from the areas where snowfall has already occurred will cause temperatures to drop continuously in Punjab, Haryana, northern Rajasthan, and western Rajasthan, as well as in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Minimum temperatures will fall rapidly, and the receding winter will return.
However, the winds here are coming from the south. So, in Gujarat, southern Rajasthan, western parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana, minimum temperatures are expected to rise. This is the kind of weather pattern we can expect. The entire northeastern region will remain dry, but rain is starting again in several parts of Tamil Nadu and southern Karnataka. The Northeast monsoon is almost over, but there will be occasional light rainfall.
So now, if we talk about the 25th, on the 25th, you can see another Western Disturbance is starting to move in, which will arrive on the night of the 26th. However, the remnants of this Western Disturbance will still cause some light weather activity in the high mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The weather in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will start to clear up, and the rainy conditions will continue in Tamil Nadu, southern Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. Now, this is the 26th. If we look at the 26th, you can see that some moisture is being fed in from the Arabian Sea, so some areas of eastern Rajasthan may experience light rain on the 26th.
However, a new Western Disturbance will arrive over the mountains again, and this is the map for the 26th. And if we talk about the 27th, on the 27th, there will be heavy rain and snowfall in the mountains once again. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and many areas of Rajasthan may experience rain and hailstorms again. This is the map for the 27th.
If we look at this, why will this happen on the 27th?
So, look here, this trough is coming in this way. So, from here, you can see that all this moisture has come from this direction. And the moisture from here is also coming around. So, the same conditions as before will prevail, but the induced cyclonic circulation will not be very strong, so the intensity of the rain will be somewhat less than what was experienced on the 23rd.
So, if we summarize this video in a nutshell, it is that the weather will start to clear up from today. There will be light showers in the mountains. There will be snowfall in the high mountains. 26 Rain will resume in eastern Rajasthan on the 26th. Rain will return to North India on the 27th and 28th, and snowfall will increase in the mountains on January 27th and 28th. There is a possibility of rain in South India over the next two to three days. Minimum temperatures will drop across North, Central, and East India over the next two days due to cold winds. However, minimum temperatures will fall slightly in Gujarat, while temperatures may rise slightly in Maharashtra, Telangana, Vidarbha, and southern Chhattisgarh.
